Grana Padano 1/4 20lb
Grana Padano is one of the most popular cheeses in Italy. The word "grana" means "grain" in Italian, and refers to its distinctively granular texture. "Padano" refers to the Pianura Padana valley which surrounds northern Italy's Po River.
One of the world's first hard cheeses, it was made nearly 1,000 years ago by Cistercian monks near Milan. It is similar to Parmigiano-Reggiano but is made over a wider area with different regulations and controls. It can typically offer the same qualities as Parmagiano with lower prices, though Grana is less crumbly, milder and less complex in flavor.
